How do you like your coffee?

I am a coffee guy – period! I like coffee and sometimes maybe I drink too much of it. I am also a programmer so the perfect stereotype – programmers drink coffee. I drink it for the taste, not to keep me awake. I can drink coffee (maybe even 2-3) and in the next 10...

Automattic trial year 2 – (probably) my last trial. Thoughts about the hiring process.

I have another post with my trial experience from last year, you might have to read that first, this one will be a little different. Read it here. So… if you read my blog you might know that last year I trialed for a job at Automattic. Even if their canned rejection message on Slack...

I think I am going to be able to write a new version/follow-up to this article soon.

I am leaning towards a new refusal this year, but we’ll see. This is one of the most challenging/exciting waiting games ever.

Diversity visa 2023

I am going to be short with this post: we did not win it. We had two chances, both I and Catalina submitted applications but neither of us got randomly extracted. There is still time for us, to hope that this program will not be canceled or a better alternative to legally immigrate to the...

Romanians and their concern about others

I find it hard to believe that some fellow Romanians are making fun of the US president, either the current one or the past one, but we still have a president that called me and those fellow friends “religiously fanatical”. In the meantime, the US presidents always invoke God in their speeches and also pray...

What’s a P2 and why does it make so much sense

I remember when Automattic first introduced the P2 WordPress theme. The theme itself introduced a lot of interesting new things and a new approach to WordPress sites: collaboration websites and short Twitter-like posts. I even tried to use the theme for a side project somewhere around 2010 while I was still in high school, but...
A special word from me for you:

Am I the only one that when sees an available update to anything I HAVE TO do it before anything?

For example I enter to wrtite a post here on the blog and I see this:

Cannot write anything before I update.

Or I open VsCode and it has an available update (I use the Insiders edition with multiple updates per day). I HAVE to update it. Same with PhpStorm plugins.

So… am I the only one?

I ordered a WordPress t-shirt on March 7th. Arrived in Romania on April 1st, even though I paid for express delivery. Post is slow worldwide, but especially in Romania. It stayed in customs from the 1st of April until today, the 6th of April. Now it is on its route to my town, curious to see how much longer do I need to wait and how much do I have to pay for VAT and slow customs.

Automating the Git commit message prefix

If you’re a programmer you probably love automating the daily tasks you do daily, don’t you? Well, if you don’t you probably should. The current project I work on has a specific Git Branching model that follows the Jira tasks number. In a nutshell, here are the requirements: when I tackle a story/feature task, it...

I’ve found the best Apple Watch band so far. It is not cheap but not too expensive also. It is a braided loop model, very comfortable.

I bought it from here.

Guess it's obvious, but the theme is created by myself with TailwindCSS. You can find the source code here.
I still use WordPress 🧡. The theme is custom Laravel though 😎.
